Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya, home to over 4000 plant species

The Royal Botanical Gardens is located at Peradeniya, which is approximately 5.5km from Kandy, in the the hill country of Sri Lanka’s Central Province. The largest botanical garden in Sri Lanka, it spans over a massive land area of 147 acres. It is surrounded on three sides by a loop of the Mahaweli River, which is the longest river in Sri Lanka. The Royal Botanical Garden is the perfect place for a stroll amidst dreamy pathways laced with beautiful palms and massive trees where monkeys and fruit bats feasting on the succulent fruit is a common sight.
